Couples forget the camera's there. Guests just assume I'm someone's mate. I'll guide you when you need it and disappear when you don't.
My dad's a videographer. He needed a second shooter, so at fifteen I started coming along, and I learned how a wedding day runs before I could drive to one. Six hundred-odd weddings later, every one still gives me the same feeling when the ceremony starts. That mix of nerves and energy and love that fills a room, you can't manufacture it. You just have to be ready for it.
He's still filming, mostly small documentaries these days, the kind of thing he actually wants to make. Fair enough.
I'm based in Melbourne and I'll travel wherever your day is. Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, regional Victoria, interstate. Luxury estates and backyard parties get the same from me.
Before this I was Apertura Studios. Same person, same films, new name.
I don't chase shots.
I follow moments.
“Honestly, if he wasn’t our videographer, we would have invited him as a guest.”
Me, age 3 or 4. Clearly already on the job.
Some things don't change.
You're not expected to know what to do in front of a camera. I'll move you, position you, and keep it feeling like a conversation rather than a photo shoot. Nobody gets left standing there wondering.
There's a moment on every wedding day where I step back and let things happen. I don't announce it, I just do it. Those are the bits that end up in the film.
Your vows, the speech that went somewhere nobody expected, the line your best man probably shouldn't have said. That's the spine of it. Which is why it still holds up on the tenth watch, not just the first.
A conversation about your day, and whether we're right for each other.
